SET (by Mauricio Herrera)

SET (by Mauricio Herrera)

According to Egyptian mythology, the god Seth was the god of the desert and the personification of evil. Seth's parents were Geb and celestial goddess Nut. According to the myths and legends, the god Seth, who want to master the sister of his brother Osiris and take away his earthly throne. Primarily for this he made his cunning plan.
At his command, master produced a gold sarcophagus (according to other versions of the trunk), just as the growth of Osiris. Invited them to his house many guests (including his brother Osiris), he said he had decided to give this sarcophagus to the one who will fit into it. At the moment when Osiris lay down, closed the lid traitors, and the sarcophagus were thrown into the Nile. Traveling this way, the Nile of its profits to the shores of Phoenicia, where he found a wife, Isis. And then Osiris was returned to the Nile Delta. Here he found a cunning Seth and cut into fourteen pieces. After the death of Osiris, Seth was the rightful owner of Egypt. Son of Osiris god Horus come to grips with the killer and wins with the help of Ra. However, Seth is alive and opponents decide to appeal to the divine court, to clarify the rights of the reign.
Litigation lasted for more than eighty years, but the gods could not reach a consensus. Only the intervention of the revived Osiris helped find a solution. Seth was deprived of the Egyptian throne, and Amon Ra took it with him to heaven to all afraid.
God Seth was depicted in the guise of an animal that is difficult to pinpoint in the zoological sense. Attempts to interpret were quite extensive - from Aardvark through the okapi and the family dog and ending with an antelope. During the period of ancient reign, he looked more like a donkey.
But in any case, the image of the animal among the nomads of Upper Egypt personified power, while farmers in Lower Egypt, he was the chief symbol of trouble. Thus, Seth became a partner of Gore and regulations along with the other part of Egypt.
Every Egyptian pharaoh was the personification of the two brothers combined.

Standing on the prow of solar ship, the Egyptian god Seth is struggling with the serpent Apophis. Before the advent of the territory of Egypt, GIAC, Seth was the supreme god, and during the eighteenth and nineteenth dynasty, he defended the Ramesside (hence the name of the Pharaoh - Setos).
As a "red" god Seth was the embodiment of all evil forces - through the breath of the earth come the worms. " He is Lord of all metals - iron ore called "bones" of this god. With the spread of the cult of Osiris, Seth for a while it becomes illegal.
As the animals, which were identified with Seth, are considered in the first place, donkey, antelope, hippo, pig, fish and crocodile.
Virtually every world mythology, there are two start - evil and good. In Egyptian mythology, the role of evil began to divert it to Seth - though there are more dark, evil, cosmic forces, for example, the serpent Apophis. But they are identified primarily with the elements, while Seth is endowed with human qualities completely (cruelty, envy, treachery), and appears most often in images of man-god.
During the period of the Old Kingdom and Seth were attached to some positive features. For example, the valor and strength have been attributed to him after rescuing them from the Amon Ra, Apophis: Located in the boat of Ra, Seth hits the snake with a spear. But gradually it is gaining evil qualities - the murder of Osiris, god made him hostile to Egypt, countries that malicious god, ruler of the desert. In origin Seth belonged to the supreme gods - it was the third child of Geb and Nut (after Isis and Osiris). The fourth child of this divine couple (the goddess Nephthys) was according to legend, the wife of Seth.
Apparently, the original gods were very similar with the people they were very contradictory, which is normal for people, but does not fit into the divine symbols. Over time, human and divine features separated and in this sense, the consciousness of the Egyptian god Seth could express an ongoing process of desertification of the land around the Nile delta. In connection with human activity, this process has been going on for millennia.
